Meet our Neurodivergent Affirming Therapists
At Empowering Hope, we currently have several therapists who specializes, or focus on, ADHD, Autism, and AuDHD treatment.
Lived experience • Master of Science in Behavior Analysis • Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate
Emily brings both professional training and lived experience to her work with neurodivergent individuals and families. She completed ABA training and over 10 years in that field before switching over to therapy. Her approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. She supports clients navigating executive functioning challenges, burnout, identity, relationships, and life transitions using neuro-affirming care informed by CBT, DBT, ACT, and person-centered therapy.
Additionally, our therapists Rachel, Kady, and Jessica also focus on therapy for executive functioning and skill building.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Therapy in Fort Collins, CO
Maybe you have been told that your brain “just works different,” or told to “calm down.” While those words can hurt, they do not mean YOU are wrong. ADHD can look like hyperfocus, distraction, a need for structure, and sometimes a little kindness. Research shows that cognitive-behavioral approaches can help adults with ADHD manage attention and day-to-day challenges (Lopez et al., 2018).
At Empowering Hope, we offer compassionate, person-centered, neurodiversity-affirming ADHD therapy and counseling in Fort Collins and online throughout Colorado. We support you as a human, not a diagnosis, and work collaboratively to understand your unique experiences, values, and strengths.
Together, we can build practical support for emotional regulation, executive functioning, boundaries, and a way of life that works best for you.
Autism Therapy in Fort Collins, CO
Autism Spectrum Disorder (aka ASD) is part of who you are, but it is not the full picture. You deserve support that sees you as more than a diagnosis or a medical case.
At Empowering Hope, we offer compassionate, person-centered, neurodiversity-affirming autism therapy and counseling in Fort Collins and online throughout Colorado. We work collaboratively to understand your unique experiences, values, and strengths.
Together, we can build practical support for emotional regulation, executive functioning, boundaries, self-advocacy, and everyday life. Research shows that therapists often adapt care for autistic clients with clearer communication, more structure, and support that fits the person in front of them (Cooper et al., 2018).
AuDHD Therapy in Fort Collins, CO
Neurodiversity can look different for everyone, and sometimes it likes to get spicy. When ADHD and autism are both present—often called AuDHD—the mix can look a little different, and that’s okay. Everyone has different goals, and we are here to support the mix of executive functioning challenges, relationship concerns, emotional regulation, and balancing logic and emotion that can come with co-occurring autism and ADHD. Research reflects this variety: a 2024 peer-reviewed review found overlapping executive-function differences across ADHD and autism while emphasizing that experiences can vary widely from person to person (Kofler et al., 2024).
Together, we can build practical support for emotional regulation, executive functioning skills, boundaries, relationship challenges, sensory needs, neurodivergent burnout, and self-advocacy. Our neurodiversity-affirming counseling focuses on helping you understand how your brain works, find tools that fit your real life, and feel more confident asking for what you need.
Neurodivergent Therapy FAQ
-
Neurodiversity-affirming therapy starts from the belief that ADHD, autism, and other differences in how brains work are not things that need to be fixed. Therapy can be a place to understand your experience, build support around what is hard, recognize your strengths, and find ways to advocate for the life you want.
-
ADHD can affect focus, planning, starting tasks, emotions, boundaries, and the day-to-day things that can feel easy for other people. In therapy, we can look at what is getting in the way and build practical, individualized support for executive functioning, emotional regulation, burnout, and routines that work better for your brain.
-
Yes. Autism may be part of your story, but it is not the full picture of who you are. Our approach is compassionate and person-centered: we make space for your needs, values, identity, relationships, sensory experience, and the ways you want to move through the world. You deserve to be understood as a whole human, not reduced to a diagnosis.
-
You do not need to have every answer before you reach out. If you are wondering whether ADHD, autism, or neurodivergence may be part of your experience, therapy can be a place to explore what you are noticing and what support would feel helpful. This page is for therapy and ongoing support so we can help you figure out the best treatment options specifically for you.
-
It depends on you. Some people want support with executive functioning, regulating emotions, boundaries, burnout, improved relationships, self-understanding, or creating structure. Others need space to make sense of experiences that have been misunderstood or dismissed. We work collaboratively to create a plan that fits your goals instead of forcing you into one approach.
-
That is okay. You do not need the right words, the right answers, or everything figured out before starting therapy. We can begin with what has been feeling hard, what you wish were different, or even the things you are not sure how to name yet. Therapy can move at a pace that feels supportive, not rushed.
